100 Day

Last Tuesday was the 100th day of Kindergarten. Makenna was told to make something that contained 100 of something. Well, being the girly girl that she is, we decided together that it would be fun to put 100 rhinestones on something. Of course we didn't use the expensive kind, but we did buy a HUGE bag of all different colors and found a perfect white hat to decorate.

She had a great day at school and now has a hat with some major bling!

Organ Stop Pizza

We took went with Christian's family to Organ Stop Pizza today. Christian and I hadn't been there since we were kids, and it was so much more fun seeing it through their eyes.

When we first got there, the kids were g-o-o-f-y! They were dancing all over the place and just in awe of all the pipes and lights and everything they could see. We sat upstairs, overlooking the organ....it was a perfect spot to see everything.

One of the reasons we went was to take Christian's grandma, Grandma Berenz there. I think she liked it!

After we ate pizza, the kids wanted to go down and request some songs and see the organ up closer. Here is Aunt Amy and Camden. Makenna and I requested Twist and Shout (her trio song), but it was never played.

One couple there was celebrating their 50th anniversary, so they played a waltz, Neena and Camden had to join in!

At the end, Poppy bought the kids ice cream. A perfect ending to our enjoyable evening out!

Rainbow Connection

Makenna participated in the first competition of the season and couldn't have done better! Trio was up first, and for this competition we put all the girls in the newbie category. I think there were 8 trios in the 8 and under and our girls won 1st! They got a platinum ranking and a 1st place trophy! Great job girls!

Here they are with their choreographer, Brigitte.

After trio, Makenna did her solo. She rocked! She was so expressive and full of personality. At awards, she got a double platinum ranking and took 1st place! (and that's for 8 and under) So exciting! She also received a special award for Little Miss Glamour.

Here are the three girls in their solo costumes. They did fantastic too, both platinum and placed 4th and 7th.

Here is the video of her routine with the commentary from one of the judges. This is so great because the choreographer can make necessary changes. Great feedback!

Later that night we found out she had the highest newbie score of all ages and categories, so she got an additional trophy and a $250 gift certificate! What a day for Makenna! She was so excited! Great job girls!

A Morning in the Life of Delaney

On Mondays and some Wednesday mornings I have off work and Camden and Makenna go to school. This leaves just Delaney and I in the morning. Here is what many of these mornings consist of after breakfast.
Stretching (today we played pattycake in our straddle)

Dancing (actually this is pretty much what a full hour consisted of). She picks a song (usually Rockstar or Twist and Shout...both Makenna's performing songs) and entertains. Today she went in the toyroom and came out with this dance outfit and asked me to put it on her.
The video is a little long, I never know when to stop!

After dancing, she brought me book after book to read to her. I couldn't get a picture of that because there was no one to take it, but here is Delaney reading to herself, which she also enjoys. She actually makes up the words to the book too!
Notice the purse on her arm. It goes everywhere! It is a Cinderella purse which she fills with play princesses. Such the girlie girl!

After all this stretching, dancing and reading, it's usually time to get Camden. I sure enjoy this time with her though!

Go Cardinals!

The Cardinals have two games today...one at 9:00 and then a play-off game at 2:00. They won the game at 9:00!!! We'll see about the afternoon game....

And how could I forget our cheering section, with Makenna and Delaney leading the way! Thansk for coming Aunt Kelley! (sorry I forgot to take a picture!)

Fashion Disaster Day

Makenna's school had a Fashion Disaster Spirit Day this week. Here is the outfit she and I came up with. Thank goodness for brightly colored dance clothes!

Cam's 1st football game as a Cardinal

The newest season for football has started and this time Camden is excited to be a Cardinal!
I really didn't take many pictures, so next week I hope to have some better pictures.

I found my camera!

Just in case anyone cares to know, I found my camera yesterday. It was in Makenna's dance drawer, which I haven't accessed since the recital...where I thought I lost it. I was getting her clothes out for dance yesterday when voila, there it was!

All About Camden

Camden got to do his All About Camden poster over break and present it yesterday. Here is what it said!

I am 4 years old.
My favorite color is blue.
My favorite animal is a tiger.
My favorite food is pizza.
My favorite places are Disneyland and Legoland.
When I grow up I want to be Batman.
My favorite things to do are play football and baseball.
If I had one wish I would wish to fly.

Last Day of Break = Fun at the Zoo

For the last day of Christmas break, we decided to take the kids to the Phoenix Zoo. Now, I know I brought Delaney with me on the Kindergarten field trip last month, but we saw so little of the zoo because were in a group that I'd like to think this is really Delaney's first trip! We only visit once a year, so it's exciting each time.

(No we did not buy a camera, but our new video camera has a photo taking mode too. The quality of the video might be great, but the pictures are no substitute for a good digital camera. I think it will work for right now though!)

When we went for Makenna's fieldtrip, we didn't see her favorite animal, the flamingo. So that was first this time!

Here are our little monkey's (well two of them!)

Camden and Delaney sharing a snack

The kids enjoyed the play area (go figure!)

Camden always enjoys driving the tractor, but this was Laney's first drive.

Then the petting zoo. Delaney thought every animal looked like Eeyore, especially the goats. She wasn't quite gentle with them either. She wanted to run to every goat and "pet" them. We are still working on petting nicely! (The picture is deceiving!)
Makenna and Camden loved brushing the goats...the goats loved it too.
Our usual ride on the saddle. :)
So Laney thought the wallabys, monkeys, goats, and zebras looked like Eeyore, we thought we'd take a real picture of Eeyore! (His real name is Peter though, don't tell Laney)
This alligator was her favorite thing to climb on.
Makenna on the warthog!

Camden on the king of the jungle.
Nice ride.

Great view of the giraffes (always one of my favorites)
Our spiders in their web.
Looking at the prarie dogs.

It was a fun day at the zoo...and a nice end to a break that was just too short!
