KAR Invitational Dance Competition

Makenna performed in 4 dances in the KAR Invitational this past weekend (Solo, Trio, Rockstar, Hey Mickey). She did fantastic, as did all the Flip Zone entries. Her solo earned a Top First (top award) and placed 3rd overall for 8 and under! And that was with 22 solos in this category. She rocked! I bought the video and pictures, so prepare to be inundated with our very own Material Girl!

This was the best I have ever seen her do! She even added her own choreography to the end of this routine (which was approved right before she went on!) She wanted to nod at the end, not sure why, but she did it!

Here are all the solos we brought (minus 3 of the older girls) Here areTaylor, Ashlyn, Madilyn, Savanna, Makenna, Bailey and Emma.

Next up was trio and they did awesome! The earned Top First and placed 2nd overall for 8 and under duos/trios. No pictures, but video to come...
The next day the group dances performed. Here are the rockstar girls warming up.

Rockstar earned a Top First and placed 10th overall for small group 8 and under.

Makenna's last dance was Hey Mickey which earned Top First and 9th place overall for small group 8 and under.

Overall a fantastic job by all!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

St. Patrick's Day is also Poppy's birthday, so the kids and I, Neena, Aunt Amy, and Uncle Ross surprised him at work with pizza.

While we were there, a friend of mine from back when I worked at the bank showed up. Sonia is a Gilbert police officer.
Then she let the kids take a picture in front of her police car.

Happy birthday Poppy!

Spring Break Day 2

Not too much today, just a small fort the kids wanted to play, eat, watch movies (etc.) in. Then Makenna had dance practice and the other 2 went to the Farmers. (Thanks Megan)

Spring Break

Day One-

  • Dentist - Makenna and Camden had appointments and they did FABULOUS. They went back without me and everything. I was so proud of what big boys and girls they were. :)

  • Visit Nana's work - While Makenna and Camden may have gotten goofy, Delaney made up for their lack of friendliness, talking to everyone. The kids got WAY too much candy, but loved seeing where Nana worked.

Fingerpainting-

  • Long bike ride to park:

Makenna's Tricks

Here are just a few tumbling/dance skills Makenna has learned. It's so fun to watch her progress!
This is called a valdez (a backwalkover from sitting)

My favorite...the roundoff backhandspring.

Phoenix Children's Museum

I went with Makenna's Kindergarten class to the Phoenix Children's Museum this week. I love it so much that I can do this with her!

I was also in charge of a new friend of Makenna's, Destiny. This is the fun way I did Makenna's hair for the day.The museum was full of fun activities for the kids like coloring painting and playdoh.

They had a lot of areas for creative play.

Makenna LOVED an area where she got to make pretend pizza's and play pretend house.

Her other favorite area was an area full of noodles that the kids could plow through.Hidden inside was rock painting.Other fun things...

Here signature pose, but with giant shoes! Makenna with another friend of hers, Presley.

Her friend Ryan played the checker and Makenna checked out her groceries. It's so funny how kids always want to do the things adults do!

What a fun field trip! I would love to go back and take Camden and Delaney next time.

Globetrotters

This past weekend Makenna did her last big group performance at the Harlem Globetrotters halftime show. Only Makenna and I went, but we actually got to watch part of the game. It was only for a little while, but we had a lot of fun!

After the performance, I gave her a choice of staying for the rest of the game or going to her school carnival that was happening at the same time. Of course she chose the carnival so we left, but not before we took a picture of the Suns gorilla.

and bought cotton candy. "It's like I'm eating hair!"

We didn't stay too long at the carnival, but she sure got a lot of attention with her fancy dance hair and jewelry!

She got this cute little poodle to adopt.

At the end of the day she said her favorite part was a tie, getting Daisy (her little poodle) and performing. That's our girl!
