Happy Birthday Neena!

Saturday, April 24 also happened to be Neena's (Christian's mom) birthday. I haven't yet explained how "Neena" got her name. For about 5 years she was called Nana. This meanth that Makenna, Camden and Delaney had a Nana and Papa (my parents) and a Nana and Poppy (Christian's parents). (I'm not this was well thought out in advance!) Anyway, the kids did fine distinguising between the two.
Then Delaney started talking.

Now because Delaney is the youngest, we usually think EVERYTHING she says is the cutest (we used to do the same when Makenna and Camden were that age too). About 6 months ago, she never would say Nana. She always said N-e-e-n-u-h. Well, Nana Taylor decided that if we wanted, she would change her name.

Makenna actually came up with the spelling because she knows that to make the /ee/ sound, you need two e's. Neena liked that, the name became official.

Camden, however, refuses to call her this, and still refers to her as Nana. This just shows that stubborn streak that sometimes shows in Camden.
We went out for dinner for her birthday and then there was a surprise party at her neighbor, Silvia's house. I forgot the camera :( . Here are just a couple random pictures. I know I have a TON more, but my organization at pictures needs some work! I will have to focus on that this summer.

Happy Birthday Neena!

Encore Dance Competition

Makenna had a fantastic competition on Saturday. I only took one picture because it was SOOO busy, but overall the day was great.

(The following is more for my records than anything else) For her solo she got a platinum and placed 2nd overall (and there were over 20 solos in the 8 and under category! Go Makenna!)

The trio got platinum and placed 1st place. Great job girls!

Makenna was in two group dances. They competed against each other, but both did very well. Hey Mickey received platinum and placed 4th overall. Rockstar received platinum and got 1st place overall!!!

Here is the one and only picture I took. (Makenna, Bailey, Emma, and Taylor)

I ordered a copy of the video for Rockstar, but I have to wait for it to come. Way to go girls! (Oh, and Makenna performed at her talent show last Friday (did her solo) and just rocked as the only Kindergartner...she was a hit!)

Mii like to Wii

Besides basketball, Camden's favorite thing to do is play the wii. He especially likes playing table tennis and he is GOOD! He kicks my butt (not that I am any competition at all). Recently he has begun playing against himself. He will select Makenna's mii and and his mii and hold a remote in each hand. He's gotten pretty good at both sides and yesterday he beat himself 13 to 11 (the game is supposed to end at 6 points, but you have to win by 2 and he kept tying it up!)Here are Makenna and Camden's Mii's. Of courese, they helped make them.

Here is a short little video of him playing with both characters.

Ladybugs

Makenna has been studying ladybugs all week at school. She loves coming home each day and telling us the new things she learned and we love to learn about them too. Well, on Thursday, Makenna went to bed with a fever (turns out she had strep). At about 12, she woke up and came in our room all dazed. Here is what I remember of our conversation:

Makenna: I can't move around in my room because there are ladybugs everywhere.
Me: Oh, there are no ladybugs, you must have had a dream about ladybugs.
Makenna: Yes there are, they are all over and I can't move!
Me: Let's go take a look.
We go in her room, which is pretty dark of course.
Me: Okay, do you see any ladybugs anywhere?
Makenna: (confused) Well, they were....they were right here...I saw them....

Me: Do you see them now?

Makenna: No.....

Me: Why don't you just lay down and go back to sleep.

Makennna: But I can't lay on my pillow or I will smash the big one!

Me: Why don't we take some Motrin. (her fever was pretty high)

After that she went to bed just fine and didn't remember it in the morning. Dreams can be so funny!

First Lake Trip of the Year

Wow! It is so much easier to go on the boat now!! With Laney being older and so independent, we didn't have to spend so much time just trying to keep her happy. I can tell we will be on the boat even more this summer.

The water was FREEZING!! Christian, Greg, and Megan wakeboarded (I decided to wait for a little warmer water!). Morgan, Julia and Riley all jumped in the water, so Makenna just jumped on in, not prepared AT ALL for the freezing temperature. Boy was she in shock! I'm sure the next time we go all of them will constantly be in the water.

For lunch we went over the beach. The water was 56 degrees....it hurt your feet. But the kids had fun.

Thanks Farmers for taking us out. We had fun!

Easter Weekend

What a crazy weekend we had! On Saturday, Makenna participated in the I Love Dance Competition. She did fantastic! Her solo got first in her category and her trio got first in its category! For overall, they put all the acts together (solos, duos and trios) and then took the overall high score. Makenna's solo got 2nd place and her trio got 1st! Pretty cool!

After that (which took almost all day!) we went to Easter at Christian's parents. His aunt and uncle were in town and did such a great job hiding the eggs for the kids. The kids had a blast! I wish I had brought the camera, but I didn't.

The next day was Easter at home and then my parent's house.

The kids woke up to see what the Easter Bunny brought and boy were they excited about this gift.

Camden said, "I always wanted a real basketball goal!" He didn't even want to look for eggs after this!
But the kids did look for the eggs, all filled with money.
Then they filled their piggy banks.

Getting 5 people dressed and ready is always work!

At my parents house, the 8 kids waited (somewhat) patiently to find the eggs.

So after this, we went home and all took a nap (we were exhausted!) and spent the rest of the day playing basketball. Such a fun day! I hope everyone else had a great Easter!
