Painting, Reading and Climbing

What a fun day we had with Makenna and Camden today! It was my last Wednesday off before school gets out and the kids have been asking to go to Makutu's, so Christian took the day off and we had a blast together. Megan watched Delaney (thanks Megan, Laney you can go next year)

Makutu's is an indoor tree house with all sorts of things to climb, slide down, and manuever through. It's designed for kids and adults, so we could do everything with the kids, and had as much fun as they did.

Actually, the day started with us getting to Makutu's at 11:30 (Makenna had preschool in the morning) after eating lunch at McDonalds.

Then finding out they JUST changed their hours to open 2. Aah, we had 2 1/2 hours to kill! We decided to take the kids to the movies (that didn't work out though) and then found As You Wish, a pottery painting studio. We let the kids each pick a piece (Camden picked a jet, Makenna picked a butterfly) and they did a fabulous job creating masterpieces. We had to leave them there, but I will take pictures when we get them back.

There was still about 45 minutes left to fill so we hung out at Barnes and Noble. I just LOVE bookstores. The atmostphere is relaxing, inspiring, and compelling all at the same time. We went straight to the kids area and read many books, played with the trains and just had a really great time. Then it was back to Makutus.

Now, I don't really have pictures because we were WAY too busy. The kids had so much fun though. Camden has had this fear of slides, dark places, you name it..but he did great! He climbed everything by himself and went on every single slide (on our laps, but believe me, theses slides are intense!) We were so proud of him. He loved the swinging bridge that was WAY up in the air the best (something that would have freaked him out a few months ago). I think this irrational fear may be subsiding...I hope...
Makenna's favorite part was, "Everything except the super, super fast slide." Again, these slides are intense and many are almost vertical. Makenna rode on our laps for most of them too. But she is such a little daredevil that she was willing to try anything we asked, and then would beg to do it again!

It was such a great day with the two of them. They are such funny kids and kept us laughing and smiling all day. I just love spending time as their personalities get more and more developed.
