Wednesday Playdates

Okay, I am not really the "playdates" kind of mom. It sounds so suburban and "soccer mom" to me. I guess it's really the just the term that does though, because I love the kids having friends over. To be honest, we haven't really done much of that because with three young kids, I always felt like I had my hands pretty full. But with Makenna and Camden getting older, and Laney being such an easy 2-year-old, we are ready to have friends over now!

So I have decided that every Wednesday, I will let them invite a friend over. We are up in "the city" each Wednesday morning, and Makenna has to be back at the gym at 4, so it gives us the perfect opportunity to invite a gym friend to come over and play and then I can take them to class (and no parent has to drive so far to get to our house!)

This week Makenna invited Jacqueline, a sweet little girl from tumbling and dance class. We have known Jacqueline since the two of them were in parent tot together when they were 18 months! Makenna was looking so forward to having her over that the night before she said, "Oh I wish it were tomorrow RIGHT NOW so Jacqueline would be over playing!"

I also let Camden invite his friend Josh over. He and a Camden have known each other for a while too. They were actually the only 2 boys in their recital routine this year. These boys get stuck at the gym together a lot. :)

So, when we get home, what is the first thing the boys want to play with? Swords of course!

After lunch, the kids headed out to play in our play pool.

The boys. The girls.
Delaney kept up with the kids pretty well. She was very excited to show Jacqueline her "big girl bed."
Always the tumblers, the girls started doing walkovers off the pool edge.
After they got dressed. The girls played music and made up solos (only Makenna's favorite thing to do...really wish I had taken pictures because they were "matchies" with pink petticoat skirts and black tanktops). The boys were pretty tired, so they wanted to watch part of a movie.
I think our first playdate of the summer went well. Next week we will invite another friend. :)
