Modeling for Curtain Call Costumes

So, Makenna was chosen to be a model for an upcoming national dance catalog, Curtain Call Dance Costumes. It was so incredible that she was chosen and we debated on whether or not to make the trip to Pennsylania. In the end, we decided that this could be an opportunity to get into something she may be really good at. Look at her, she's a born dance model, right? So last Wednesday, Makenna and I flew to Philadelphia, rented a car and drove to Lebanon, PA, just outside of Hershey, PA. It was a long day of travel, with 2 planes and a 2 hour drive, but we made it.

The next morning, I took Makenna to her photo shoot. Now, this is where I am going to lose people. Between the make-up and hair, you are going to think it's a little too dolled up, but I can tell you that with a white background and little girl dance costumes, she looked completely appropriate. :)

She was actually chosen to model the XS costumes which are designed with 3,4, and 5-year-olds because she is so small. The first hairstyle they did was called "Baby Curls." At first Makenna was upset because she thought she looked like a baby. Well, that is kind of what they wanted! :)

Once she was out there, she did fantastic! The producers and photographer loved her from the start and she hardly spent anytime in front of the camera each time because she just got it right, right away.

We weren't allowed to take pictures of costumes because of possibly leaking it to competitors, and I didn't want to get in trouble, so I really didn't sneak...much.

Here is her first costume before hair was done.

Here is her "baby hair." Looks a little crazy now, but with accessories, she looked adorable.

Here is only full outfit I snuck in. They ended up loving her so much she had WAY more pictures taken between the two days than anyone else and they even did some reshoots with her to replace shots from previous shoots. She mostly modeled ballet and tap outfits.

It was so fun to see Makenna loving the camera so much. It was definitely her thing!

The next morning we at breakfast together and headed for day 2.

Day 2 was pretty similar. She had her hair down this day though, but with big curls again.

She ended up doing 7 shots the first day and 8 the second day if I counted right, (most girls did 4-8 total between 2 days). She should be in the catalog quite a bit.

After the second day we had time to kill because our flight didn't leave until the next day. We went over to Hershey and visited the Chocolate Factory.

It is not so much fun taking a little girl around in full make-up and hair though, she got looks and I felt like a bad mom! But I didn't have any remover.

Here we are on the Chocolate tour.

She picked out presents for Cam and Laney.

The next morning we headed back on our long trip back.

It was an amazing experience for her and really showed me that if she wants to go into this, she could. Both producers came up to me and different points telling me how wonderful she was to work with, how photogenic and to please come back next year. Makenna loved it, so...we'll see. So proud of that little girl! :)
