Riley has a "pink" eye

So, Riley's family birthday party was supposed to be today but Megan called this morning to tell us Riley has pink eye so the party is cancelled. Poor thing. Well, the kids were really disappointed, but mostly worried about Riley's "pink" eye. They wanted to see it. When we told them it is uncomfortable and icky, they then worried that Morgan, Julia and Aunt Megan would get it (sorry Uncle Greg I guess they wanted you to have a pink eye). When Christian said he was running over to the Farmer's house to pick up some cinnamon rolls Megan made (so good), the kids were very worried. Here was the conversation:

Makenna: Daddy, will you see Riley when you are over there? Will she give you a pink eye too?
Daddy: I will be careful so I don't get it too.

When he got home:
Makenna: Did you see Riley? Does she have a pink eye? Do you have one too? Let me see your eyes.
Daddy: (showing his eyes) I was careful, my eyes are fine.
Makenna: (holding down her eyelid) Are my eyes pink too?
Daddy: No, they are fine.
Makenna: But they are red here (pointing to under her eyelid).
Camden: Daddy, are my eyes pink? I want my eyes to be blue!
Makenna: No Camden, when your eye is pink it's icky!
Camden: But my eye isn't pink.
Mommy: Camden your eyes are blue, so are Makenna's.
Camden: Are they icky?
Makenna: I'm going to look at Riley's eyes at preschool tomorrow to see if they are pink.

It kind of reminds of this great book Makenna picked out at the bookfair called Pinkalicious. It's about this girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and she turns pink. She goes to the doctor and the only way to get over this pinkitis is to eat tons of green vegetables. Cute story.
